Abhishek lifts Tamil Nadu Open Amateur title

COIMBATORE: Bangalore lad Abhishek Jha struck form when it mattered most and fired a three-under 69 to lift the LG Tamil Nadu Open Amateur golf tournament on Friday. The lanky golfer finished with a tournament tally of three-over 291 to be six shots ahead of country's top amateur Rashid Khan who submitted a level-par 72 at the Coimbatore Golf Club.  Rahul Bajaj finished third at 300 while Pawan Kumar shared the fourth spot along with Karan Vasudeva at 304. Pritam Haridas was sixth at 305 while Moin Malak occupied the seventh spot at 307.  "It feels so good to be back to winning ways. It is doubly satisfying that I won on difficult course conditions," said Abhishek, who won the LG Noida Open Amateur in January 2009.  "I knew that Rashid is a good player and can make a comeback. Hence I stuck to my game-plan of keeping the ball in play and I managed just that," added the champion who now will be hoping to make it to the Indian team for the Nomura Cup for which the trials begin early July.
