Four TN spots identified to woo business
tourists

CHENNAI: In an attempt to attract business
tourists, Tamil Nadu Tourism has identified four
tourist spots as MICE (Meetings, Incentives,
Conferences and Exhibitions) destinations.
Sources in the department said the four places
are Mamallapuram, Ooty, Kodaikanal and Yercaud.
Already, the sources said, the department had
started to enhance infrastructure facilities at
the four tourist spots to meet the requirement
of such travellers in the coming months. "These
are ideal destinations where travellers can
combine business with leisure," an official
said. Infrastructure facilities have been
enhanced at Mamallapuram. On Monday, state
tourism minister N Suresh Rajan inaugurated 40
cottages renovated by the department at a cost
of Rs 2.75 crore and 14 bamboo cottages built
under the private public partnership basis at
the Beach Resort Complex in Mamallapuram.

"The
bamboo cottages will also be used to provide ayurvedic
treatment for the travellers. In addition, entertainment
facilities for children will be installed near the
cottages very soon at a cost of Rs 2 lakh," said Suresh
Rajan after inaugurating the cottages. "The service will
be extended to all hotels of the Tamil Nadu Tourism
Development Corporation (TTDC) if the patronage is
good," he said. Tourism secretary Irai Anbu said that
the department was also developing lesser-known tourist
spots in the state. "Yelagiri has been given a facelift
at a cost of Rs 10 crore," he added.
