T. Nadu incentive for exam toppers

Chennai (PTI):
The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday disbursed
Rs 64,000 as incentive to five students of the
state who had opted for Tamil as one of the
subjects and bagged top honours in the
Government exams for Class 12 which were held in
March and whose results were announced last
week.
The Government also promised to bear the
educational expenses of all the five students
irrespective of their choice of course and
college, a State Government release here said on
Thursday.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi gave
away cheques for Rs 15,000 each to R Tharani of
Namakkal and M Rajesh Kumar of Kancheepuram, who
had top scored with 1182/1200 marks.
A Ramya of
Erode and R Thalapathi Kumara Vikram of Namakkal
were presented with cheques for Rs 12,000 for
securing second rank with 1181 marks while K
Deepa of Rasipuram was awarded Rs 12,000 for
scoring 1180 marks and bagging the third rank at
the state level, the release said.
Tharani had earlier been honoured by the Chief
Minister in 2006 for topping the Class X
results, by scoring 491 out of 500 marks, the
release said.
