MRF to set up radial tyre factory in Perambalur Dt.

Chennai (PTI): Tyre Major MRF plans to set up a new radial tyre factory in the backward Perambalur district of Tamil Nadu, besides expanding its capacity at its Chennai and Arakonam units.

The project would cost the company Rs 900 crore and provide direct employment to 2,500 persons in the first phase and to 5,000 in the second phase, it said. An MoU in this regard was signed by the company with the Tamil Nadu government, an official press release said on Friday.

 

In the first phase of project, 3.50 lakh tyres would be manufactured at the Perambalur unit, which would reach to seven lakhs in the second stage.

MRF Chairman K M Mammen, and State Industries Secretary M O H Farooki, signed the MoU in the presence of the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, the release added.
