Need more Archaeological research

Palayamkottai: Archaeological excavations and research should be conducted at Aditchanallur, Poompuhar and Korgai, which would help throw light on history of ancient Tamils, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan has said.  During recent excavations at Aditchanallur, near here, earthen urns dating to 3000 BC were found, he said.  Korgai and Poompuhar are located near Tuticorin and Thanjavur.  Youngsters, especially the educated youth, should develop habit of involving themselves in the pursuit of such research and excavations, he said.

Mr. Anbazhagan was delivering the valedictory address at a two-day seminar on ‘Archaeological research in Tamil Nadu: Specialty of Aditchanallur and future plans,’ held at the Tamil Development and Cultural Centre at Palayamkottai on Sunday.  Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker R. Avudaiyappan presided.  State Minister for Sports T.P.M. Maideen Khan, Collector M. Jayaraman, were among those present.
