TN govt. signs MoU with construction major DLF

Chennai (PTI): The Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday signed an MoU with construction major DLF for the setting up of a Rs 1500 crore IT-Special Economic Zone at Taramani in Chennai. According to an official press release, the IT-SEZ would come up on 26.64 acre plot of land on Rajiv Gandhi Salai,the erstwhile IT Corridor, and provide employment to 55,000 persons.

Chairman of Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TODCO), S Ramasundaram, and K P Singh from DLF signed the MoU in the presence of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, it said. The Rs 1500 crore project would come up on 45 lakh sq.ft and would be completed in two phases, with the first phase expected to be completed by 2009 and the second by 2011, the release said.

The project would generate 45,000 direct and 10,000 indirect employment opportunities, it said.
