Yoga training for TN MLAs

Chennai (PTI): MLAs in Tamil Nadu would soon be performing various 'asanas' with the state government on Tuesday announcing free yoga classes for the legislators twice a day when the assembly is in session.

Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, T P M Mohideen Khan, announced in the assembly on Tuesday that the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) and Yoga Association would utilise the services of authorised instructors for this purpose.

"The classes will be held for the MLAs at the MLAs' Hostel in the mornings and evenings on the days when the assembly was in session," Khan said.

He also announced that the state would establish High Altitude Training Centres for sportspersons in places like Udhagamandalam, Kodaikanal, Yelagiri and Kalkulam for which the locations were being identified.

The centres would be established during the Eleventh Five Year Plan period, he said.
