News and Interview Studio at Amrita Vishwa

Ettimadai, Coimbatore: Students of School of
Communication of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham,
Ettimadai, trying out the facilities at the
newly- inaugurated television studio at the
university.
The School of Communication of
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham got a digital
multi-camera television news and interview
studio recently. A wide-screen acoustically
treated facility complete with digital surround
sound was also inaugurated to enable conduct of
screenings and seminars.
According to a release from the university, the
new studio and screening facilities have been
designed to support the university's
undergraduate and post-graduate programmes in
mass communication. The studio has been planned
and executed by the in-house team of
professionals and faculty of television studies.
It will enable the students of mass
communication handle live and recorded news
situations. Its programme control gallery is
equipped with state-of-the-art special effects
vision mixer, sound booth for voice recording,
audio console, high-end digital video recorder
for live audio-video inserts and online
monitoring facilities. The floor area also has
an installed news presentation and interviewing
facility with four Sony cameras on dolly mounts
to ensure a variety of camera positions.

Advanced microphones with optional directionality have
also been installed. The studio is expected to give
students confidence to enter the industry in the area of
multi-camera production. The university is already
equipped with a fully live and interactive studio for
e-learning across the campuses of Amrita Vishwa
Vidyapeetham and in remote project areas. The studio was
inaugurated by the Dean of School of Engineering of the
university M.P. Chandrasekharan.
