Coke to fund
Nemam Lake cleanup project

CHENNAI : Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd
(HCCB) has announced that it is going to fund
the project of rejuvenating Nemam Lake in
Tiruvallur district, near Chennai which is about
1000 acres. The project will be executed by
Coimbatore based NGO Siruthuli and will be
funded by Tamil Nadu government along with HCCB.
First phase of the project is expected to be
completed in another three months.

According to the officials, coke will provide about one
million dollars for this project as this is the first
single biggest project Coca-Cola has taken in India.
This project is expected to increase the water
availability for domestic and agricultural purpose in
the area and the company has informed that they will
consume only a fraction of water in this area.
