Embedded systems laboratory established

 



ERODE: Freescale Semiconductor Inc., the U.S., has established an embedded systems laboratory at the Kongu Engineering College in Perundurai near here. Inaugurating the laboratory at a function held on Thursday, the firm's Worldwide Director (University Programs) Andy Mastronardi said that the firm would extend continued support for carrying out projects at the laboratory. Support would be provided to take the utilization of facilities at the laboratory to higher levels, he assured. More students and faculty would be given opportunities to work in the laboratory and carry out value added projects. These efforts would enable the laboratory to grow as an important source for the development of new technology in this part of the country, he said.
 

 

 

 

Kongu Engineering College was one among the nine institutions selected by the firm to establish embedded systems laboratory. The state-of-the-art laboratory was established with the kits and devices contributed by the firm under its university programme. Supporting infrastructure for the laboratory was provided by the college. It would function under the Electronics and Communication Engineering department. College Correspondent R.K.Vishwanathan presided. Country Manager (India) University Programs of Freescale Semiconductor Inc. Muthukumar, Principal S.Kuppuswami, Dean S. Balamurugan and Head of ECE department G. Murugesan also spoke.
