Biography of Gemini Ganeshan released

 

 

Chennai, Nov 22: At the occasion of celebrating the artistic achievements of actor ‘Gemini’ Ganesan, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said that we should also keep in mind that he had a reformer’s mind and rose above narrow considerations of caste and religion. Addressing a celebration on the 90th birth anniversary of ‘Gemini’ Ganesan, the Chief Minister pointed that he was a broad-minded person and had faith in the concept of the Tamil ideology “ondray kulam oruvanay thevan” which means God is one. According to Mr. M.Karunanidhi, the actor was groomed by his aunt Muthulakshmi Reddy, who was a reformer then, fighting for the abolition of the Devadasi system which could have been a cause for the broad minded thinking of this actor. Mr Karunanidhi said ‘Gemini’ Ganesan was also patriot to Tamil language and participated in the World Tamil Conference in Kuala Lumpur. Director K. Balachander claimed ‘Gemini’ Ganesan to be the “director’s delight” and the advantage of posing him as a hero, was that he trusted in the capabilities of his director and would not interfere with the directors ideas, instead would enhance their thoughts in to action. Lyricist Vairamuthu said that Gemini Ganesan was not envious of anyone and had promoted many actors by recommending them to producers and directors.
 

 

 

 

Lyricist Vaali, who had close relationship with ‘Gemini’ Ganesan and his family, said it was the actor who introduced Kamal Haasan to Director Balachander. He had also convinced ‘Sivaji’ Ganesan about having Aroor Das as dialogue writer for the film ‘Paasa Malar’. He also added that the actor has a helping tendency and would encourage people to come up great and help them in needful times. The Chief Minister released a book containing ‘Gemini’ Ganesan’s biography along with a CD. Finally the vote of Thanks was given by ‘Gemini’ Ganesan’s daughter Dr.Kamala Selvaraj.
