Heavy rains continue to lash parts of TN,
Pudhucherry

Heavy rain continued to lash
parts of Tamilnadu and Puducherry as the low
pressure still persisted over Bay of Bengal with
weathermen predicting more downpours in the
region tomorrow. "Yesterday's low pressure area
now lies as a well marked low pressure area over
west central Bay off Andhra coast. Under its
influence rain would occur at many places
especially coastal areas of Tamil Nadu and
Puducherry during the next 24 hours," MeT
officials said here. Fishermen were warned not
the venture into the sea as the strong offshore
winds from northwesterly to westerly direction
with speed occasionally reaching 45-55kmph is
likely along Tamilnadu and Puducherry coast. The
sky conditions in Chennai may be generally
cloudy. One or two spells of rain or
thundershowers would occur in some areas.
Surface winds would be strong and gusty at
times, the officials said.
