KMK-BJP alliance for local
body polls

Coimbatore, Sep 26: Kongunadu
Munnetra Kazhakam(KMK) has forged an alliance
with BJP for the ensuing local body elections.
The KMK, which fought the April 13 assembly
elections with DMK, has opted to align with BJP,
since DMK unilaterally announced its decision to
fight the elections alone, party general
secretary, E R Eswaran told reporters here.
Stating that the alliance will fight the polls
in 11 districts, particularly Western Tamil Nadu,
where KMK was strong in rural and semi-urban
areas and BJP in urban areas, he said the
candidates list would be released tomorrow,
since negotiations with regard to wards are in
the final stage. KMK wants to enter the fray for
mayorship in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode, which
would be decided later tonight,he said KMK urged
the Tamil Nadu government to find an immediate
solution to the ongoing indefinite stir and
hunger strike by Powerloom Owners and job
working units, which had already crossed 25
days, Eswaran said.
