Lankan Navy fires at TN fishermen, two boats damaged Rameswaram (TN), Feb 18 Two boats carrying Tamil Nadu fishermen were damaged when Sri Lankan Navy allegedly fired at them when they were fishing between Dhanushkodi and Katchativu in Palk Straits today.

Local Fishermen association president Bilareans said the Lankan Navy fired 10 rounds, some in the air. Two mechanised boats suffered extensive damage in the firing, but the fishermen escaped unhurt, he said. Fisheries department officials said they were not sure whether the fishermen had crossed into the Lankan waters.
