Many varieties of birds have visited Vellode sanctuary

Erode: Lakhs of birds are visiting the sanctuaries in Tamilnadu during the migratory season, Tamilnadu Forest Minister D Selvaraj said. “In the Vellode Birds Sanctuary every year during September the birds come from all over India and even from other countries, remain here for more than four months, lay and hatch eggs,” he told reporters after visiting the sanctuary near here yesterday. Some 109 varieties of birds have come this year to the sanctuary and more such birds may come by the end of this month, he said, adding, strict vigil was being maintained to check poaching.
