CHENNAI: The sale of applications for
professional courses touched a record high on
day one with Anna University selling 1,80,411
application forms for engineering courses,
offered through the single window system, on
Monday and the directorate of medical education
issuing 6,269 forms for MBBS course. "We have
sold about 6,269 applications through 18
centers, which is a huge increase when compared
to the 5,000 that we sold last year on the first
day," Directorate of Medical Education Secretary
Dr Sheila Grace said. The directorate has
printed 20,000 forms this year which will be
available till the last day of this month, which
is also the last date of submission. "The
increase can also be owing to the fact that we
have 170 seats extra in government colleges and
194 new seats in self-financing colleges on
offer. So the total number of seats is 2195,"
she added.
