Living together
is not illegal : SC on Kushboo's case

The Indian Supreme Court on Tuesday after
hearing the case of Tamil actress Kushboo for
her remarks on premarital sex, observed that
living together by unmarried adults is not a
criminal offense and that it is a right to
live.22 criminal cases were filed against
Kushboo after she allegedly gave a comment on
pre marital sex. In a interview five years ago,
she said that it is not wrong for women to have
premarital sex if they take pre cautionary
measures and know about STDs .This remark
stirred controversy and resulted in a outburst
of complaints against her.

A Bench comprising Chief Justice K G
Balakrishnan and Justices Deepak Verma and B S Chauhan
said, “Living together is not an offence. Living
together is a right to life.” They challenged the
complainants to produce evidence of any girl galloping
after hearing Kushboo's comments. The SC judges even
pointed out that the Hindu gods, Lord Krishna and Radha
were living together. The verdict has been greatly
welcomed by Bollywood celebrities who are having live-in
relationships.
