‘Thrilled to sing at Big
Temple' - Shivachidambaram

THANJAVUR: “It is a rare
opportunity for me to sing in the millennium
celebrations of the Big Temple at Thanjavur,”
said Sirkazhi Sivachidambaram, vocalist and son
of late Sirkazhi Govindarajan. Speaking to the
news agenceies, before his programme at the Big
Temple, Sivachidambaram said that it was in
fitness of things that a Thamizhisai programme
by him was the second programme in the
inauguration of the celebrations. “Raja Raja
Cholan who had built the Big Temple thousand
years ago gave importance to Thamizhisai. He
retrieved Thirumurais and made Othuvars sing
them in the temple,” he pointed ou. Thamizhisai
was the ‘Adhi Isai' (pioneer and old in the
world). Like the musical trinity who enriched
Carnatic music, Sirkazhi,Arunachala Kavirayar
and Muthu Thandavar enriched Thamizhisai.

Vaidyanathan on the medicinal aspects of the
music. Incidentally Sivachidambaram is also a
