TN and Karnataka reaches fair settlement on power dispute

The governments of Tamilnadu and Karnataka have at last informed the supreme court that they have resolved the power dispute in sharing 300 MW of electricity from privately owned Sajjan Jindal's JSW Energy plant in Karnataka. According to the agreement they had put earlier, they agreed to get 150 MW power each from the plant till May 31 through the Southern Regional Load Dispatch Center (SRLDC).But on April 3, Karnataka on the grounds of acute shortage of electricity passed an order to stop giving electricity to Tamilnadu. The Karnataka High Court also directed it to follow the government's order to stop power supply to Tamil Nadu.

Later on April 7, as appealed by TamilNadu electricity board, Madras High Court put an restraint order stating that SRLDC should continue power supply to TamilNadu. As there were two different orders given by the Tamilnadu and Karnataka High courts, SRLDC approached the Supreme court to resolve the issue. Now that the issue has been resolved smoothly, Tamilnadu will receive 150 MW till May 31 by sharing electricity with Karnataka.
