Vaiko and Pazha Nedumaran on hunger strike

Chennai : On Thursday, Vaiko, General Secretary of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) and Pazha Nedumaran, Leader of Tamil National Movement (TNM) went on a hunger strike near Rajaratnam stadium at Egmore in chennai condemning the deportation of Parvathi, ailing mother of slain LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran. Last week, Parvathi had arrived in Chennai from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to have medical treatment. Though she had six month visa to stay in India she was deported back to Malaysia by immigration officials as the Central government had not granted permission for her stay in India.

According to Vaiko, he and Pazha Nedumaran who had gone to the airport to receive Parvathi on Friday night were not even allowed to approach the airport area. Tamilnadu government declared that it has no part in the deportation and that government would be willing to help if Parvathi wished to come back again for treatment. While observing the one day fast, Vaiko condemned Tamilnadu Government's action as totally inhuman and also has demanded the centre to express regret for humiliating Parvathi.
